Farm Products
Available for farm pick-up (or local delivery in Newbury, Bradford, and Sunapee NH).
Each year, beginning with our Maple Syrup production in late winter, through late autumn, boxes of fresh Produce, Eggs, Fish Filets, fresh pressed Cider and other delicious and nutritious surprises are available for farm pick-up or delivery with a small charge.
We also offer dried, split mixed hardwood at a reasonable price for fall delivery and with advance notice we can cut to length for your wood stove.
We try to raise a wide variety of heirloom fruits, herbs, and vegetables from our gardens to satisfy every diet and interest as well as to preserve the biological diversity of our agricultural heritage. We know that you will be delighted by the wide selection and seasonal offerings of our harvest.
If there is a particular variety of vegetable or fruit that you’d like to see us offer, let us know. We’ll make every effort to include it as the season allows.
Our Animals and Produce
Our animals are not fed any animal byproducts.
They are hormone and drug free, raised on pasture as Nature intended. If you have never tasted pastured-chicken or grass-fed lamb and beef, you haven’t tasted real meat.
We believe that the only way to raise livestock is humanely, in open fields with access to clean water and seasonal forage.
Animals mass produced in confinement facilities may seem cheaper in the grocery store, but the unseen costs, both environmentally and socially far exceed the modest premium you pay when buying from a local pastured farm.
Choose a Local Farm
Why send your money to some AgriCorp in a distant city when you can keep it in your own community and improve the quality of the meals you serve at the same time? It makes sense to choose a local farm and enjoy the fresh and seasonal bounties they offer.
Our produce includes a wide variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables and prepared items made in our own New Hampshire Food Safety approved kitchen. All of our seeds are heirloom varieties, not GMO engineered types that are so popular with mass producers. We choose flavor over shipping ability, variety over the same old same old, and we think you’ll appreciate the difference.
We also make a point of providing our customers a comprehensive list of what to expect each week throughout the season so that you can plan your menus and inform your guests when they ask what tastes so delicious.
Whether you choose Hopewell Farms or any of the other local producers, you can feel better about where you food dollars are spent while improving the healthful qualities of your family’s daily fare.
Visit Our Sustainable Homestead
Hopewell Farms is an open farm. We welcome visitors and encourage you to come and see for yourself how a sustainable homestead operates.
If you want to see how our animals are cared for or how we tend our crops and act as stewards of this land, we invite you to visit our Newbury, New Hampshire farm and see for yourself, first-hand and in-person.
There’s no need for bio-suits or government authorization that larger processing facilities demand, if you are able to see one at all.
We are proud of what we do and the way we do it at Hopewell Farms. We are also constantly striving to find even better ways to improve the overall flavor and quality of what we produce.
Harvest Season
OUR HARVEST SEASON begins in the spring with early peas and a wide variety of field greens, from spinach and arugula started in cold frames, to wild harvested fiddle head ferns and when available, morels in limited quantities. We plant throughout the Spring and Summer for staggered harvests that last well into early Winter and CSA members can always expect a wide variety of fresh produce weekly.
Our Tilapia Fish
Hopewell Farms is the first farm in New Hampshire to commercially produce Tilapia for sale to local customers and restaurants. Raised entirely in a closed system aquaculture facility on premises, they are fed organic feed and harvested on site without the use of hormones and antibiotics. They are pure strain, non-genetically modified species hatched from eggs in our own tanks. We purge our fish prior to harvest for the freshest flavor and only filet upon ordering so that you may enjoy the highest quality locally-produced fish available in the Lakes Region.
We raise three specific strains of Tilapia Fish:
- Oreochromis Aureus or Blue Tilapia
- Tilapia Nilotica or White Tilapia
- Tilapia Mossambica or Red Butterball
Raising Tilapia in our own tanks with the purest water ensures the highest quality fish available with a flavor that is clean and sweet and among the finest farm-raised fish available anywhere. Our water is from an artesian well and has been rigorously tested by an independent laboratory, free from heavy metals and biological organisms.
Tilapia have been long known for their tender, white filets and exceptionally high feed conversion ratios and as a rich source of protein. They are not only an ecologically and nutritionally wise choice, they are a delight to cook with and a pleasure to eat.
And because they are produced locally, you know they’re FRESH.
With sea stocks depleting and heavy metals found in most wild fish (not to mention the lack of quality controls in imported farm fish) it’s nice to know that there’s an alternative that is right next door. Local, sustainable, fresh and delicious, what more could you ask for?
Our Trout
We are also licensed to raise a wide variety of Trout Species.
